CAT E – One Nautical Mile offshore

  1. This license consists of three major components:
    • Theory Course
    • Practical skippering of 50 hours completed
    • Exam (consisting of a theory exam, practical exam and an oral exam)
  1. Most people come on this course already having skippered a vessel for the necessary 50 hours (if you want to complete your practical experience under our guidance please contact us to discuss the costs and additional time needed). If you complete your hours through us you are able to claim a reduction in training hours (contact us for details)
  1. If you are new to boating and still need to log skippering experience please contact us for information on our Blended Newbie Theory and Practical Introductory Course. (many people decide on this option as a way of getting theoretical and basic practical boating experience as a start to logging their skipper’s practical hours).
  1. To skipper through the Kowie River Mouth you will have to have logged proof in your skippers letter showing that you have experience entering and exiting the river mouth in varying conditions on different days.
  1. We also offer a pre exam practical check to ensure that you have the necessary skills to pass your practical and oral exams. We evaluate your practical abilities according to a pre-defined list and give you feed back as to where you are strong, weak or unskilled.
